YIDA
We first attempted to enter the Nuba Mountains in 2014, but were shopped short of Sudan’s border at a place called Yida. At the time, Yida was populated by approximately 10,000 Nuban refugees.
We built relationships with the refugees there, and returned to facilitate mobile clinics and offer training for pastors in the camp. We were overjoyed at the ministry we had found in Yida, but we yearned to reach those trapped beyond the Sudanese border, so we prayed for an opportunity to reach the un-reached.

A DREAM YEARS IN THE MAKING, THE COURAGE TO BRING THE LOVE OF JESUS
"Reaching out to this tribe was a terrifying undertaking, but our Dinka friends had love and forgiveness in their hearts for a fierce enemy, and the courage to bring them the message of Jesus."
WANT TO HELP REACH AN UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP?
ATC has been working in Akuak Rak, South Sudan for some time now, and the village there has become a base of sorts, a launching pad for reaching other people groups.Together we have launched projects to reach a tribal group of Darfurians, the very tribe that once brutalized many of the Dinka people.

This group of people from Darfur are often referred to as the Janjaweed. In the local vernacular, Janjaweed, means, “devil on horseback,” appropriately describing this nomadic and militant Islamic group.

Their deeds were infamous. They swept through villages in Northern Bar al Gazzelle on horseback, unleashed by the former president of Sudan, Omar al Bashir. They would storm through the villages, lighting the grass huts on fire, torturing, and killing the men and capturing the women and children. In fact, many of the Dinka pastors and evangelists came face-to-face with those who tortured or killed family members in front of them.

Reaching out to this tribe was a terrifying undertaking, but our Dinka friends had love and forgiveness in their hearts for a fierce enemy, and the courage to bring them the message of Jesus.

Where the Janjaweed are from in Darfur, there are over 300,000 people who have not heard the Gospel message. When David and the evangelism team from Akuak Rak first started working with the Janjaweed in their cattle camps, they prayed that one day the nomadic herdsmen would invite them to come to their communities and share the Gospel.

On the most recent trip, one of the chief’s of their tribe, after watching the Jesus film and engaging in conversation, agreed to take David and others back to his village of hundreds of thousands of people in Darfur. In the past, doing something like this would have been impossible, but the Lord has made a way through His faithfulness.

In order to reach Darfur and the surrounding area with the message of Jesus, we are in need of a reliable 4x4 vehicle capable of crossing the rushing rivers and mountainous terrain that stands in the way of us getting there. The total cost of something like this is about $30,000.
Thankfully, we had two incredible donors come together and agree to match any donation up to $15,000!

The dream to reach the people of Darfur with the Gospel has been years in the making, but we need your help to make it a reality. Join us in Mission Impossible: Reach Darfur!
